Rice University is served by two airports: Hobby Airport is the closest airport to the university (about a 30-minute drive in favorable traffic conditions). George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), which is much larger, is generally just under an hour's drive away, but the drive can take longer in peak traffic times. Airport transportation:Metro Bus - the only public transport option to Rice is by Metro bus: Bus to/from Bush IAH: 102 Bush IAH Express: $1.25 each way. The bus drops off at the Downton Transit Center; from the Transit Center, you can take the MetroRail to Rice University. Bus to/from Hobby HOU: 40 Telephone/Heights: $1.25 each way. The bus drops off at Main Street Square downtown; from here take MetroRail to Rice University. Other airport transportation: You can also take taxis or Uber/Lyft to and from IAH or Hobby, approx. $50-60 depending on the time of day.
